The Ascendant (also known the “rising sign”) is the sign on the cusp of the first house of the natal chart. It is the sign (and degree of that sign) that is rising on the Eastern horizon at the moment of birth, with respect to the place of birth.
The Ascendant defines, in part, the first impression we make on others in a personal rather than professional sense. It represents our physical appearance, our physical bodies and overall health, and the body ego. The Ascendant is often referred to as the mask we wear, although I don’t consider it to be as superficial as this might suggest. What it does represent is our natural and personal defense mechanisms that we use to adapt to, and cope with, our environment.
The Ascendant also shows our first impressions of the world around us, and reveals our expectations of the world around us–whether we are naturally hesitant or enthusiastic, for example. How we begin new projects, and our attitude towards new experiences come under the rule of the Ascendant.
I’ll be making posts that I probably should’ve made a while back now, too. Posts that will answer “What’s a moon sign?” & “What’s a sun sign” & “What’s an ascendant sign?” You know, some basic terminology that I use a lot. c: Also, I’ll be going through older posts to see if I’ve posted anything that ought to be sorted into my new “Astrology 101” section.
Neptune, God of the Sea, is the ruler of Pisces. In astrology, Neptune is considered a planet of inspiration, dreams, psychic receptivity, illusion, and confusion. Neptune rules spirituality, and all things subtle. A youthful, and sometimes naive, spirit characterizes those with a strong placement of Neptune in their natal charts.
On the up side, Neptune is associated with intuition and spiritual enlightenment. As well, it is a planet of mercy and compassion. The more negative manifestations of Neptune include deception, trickery, deceit, guilt, and addiction.
In the chart, the position of Neptune by sign will be shared with other people in the same generation due to Neptune’s slow movement in the heavens. By house, Neptune’s position shows where intuition, dreams, and psychic sensitivity come into play. Natives may be able to rise above the demands of the ego in the areas of Neptune’s influence.
Planets that Neptune contact are often colored by fantasy and dreaminess, and a vulnerable nature that may be susceptible to disillusionment. Here, we find hope that is sometimes unrealistic, a poetic and intuitive outlook, and compassion.
Neptune’s glyph resembles the trident that the god Poseidon is often shown holding. The crescent, representing receptivity, is pointing upwards, indicating spiritual receptivity, and is placed above the cross of matter. This symbolizes the yearning of the soul to break free from the restrictions and limitations of matter/reality.
Are there any characters— in literature, anime, comics, video games, anything at all— that you feel you really relate to? I’m curious. c: You don’t have to explain why, unless you’d like to. I’d love to hear it! So, are there any characters you really feel you relate to?
WELL YOU SEE. OBVIOUSLY THESE PEOPLE DON’T EXIST. NO ONE IS BORN ON FEBRUARY 23RD OR 24TH. sorry ;; i’ll go edit that. ;; typo on my part, thanks for pointing that out to me. hahaha. c:
Will this post suffice? c:
Also, here’s my birthday profile for March 10th if you’re curious.
This is just a personal post because I don’t have anywhere else to nerd-out about it, so feel absolutely free to completely ignore me. Haha.
On Sun Signs & Moon Signs:
So, recently, I saw someone define the difference of “sun” and “moon” sign as “sun rules your head/mind,” and “moon rules your heart.” This got me thinking a little, and sort of made me laugh! My moon sign is Gemini, which commonly represents logic… but doesn’t logic correlate with the mind? And Pisces— we’re so emotional! Doesn’t that parallel the heart? Haha. I’m a walking contradiction. c: But, wait, that’s a Pisces trait, too! (And a bit of a Gemini trait, if I’m not mistaken)
On Decans:
So, my birthday is/was on March 2. And, well, as you may’ve seen— I’ve been doing some decan posts, right? And, well, the transition date a lot of sources say from Pisces I into Pisces II say is March 2. I personally identify with each, of course (I think a lot of us probably see parts of ourself in each decan, after all). But, more specifically, they a lot of sites/books also specify degrees of Pisces decans. So, out of curiosity, I looked into my specific sun degree for my birthday, considering the year I was born— it’s 12°Pisces. And, For Pisces I, the degrees are “Approximately 3° - 12° Pisces” and for Pisces I, the degrees are “Approximately 11° - 21° Pisces."
I couldn’t help but laugh! I’m such a nerd. I’m literally smack dab in the middle of both decans.
IN OTHER WORDS: REPLYING TO THE MESSAGES IN MY INBOX
Which decan or cusp do you fall into? Find your post here.
So, I’ve gotten a few messages asking me about my most recent posts. I was hoping this wouldn’t be too much of a problem, but I realize I probably need to reorganize my blog a little to make this information a little more apparent? It is already there, but I understand that it might not be so obvious? And, perhaps, I ought to have made a post like this before making cusp & decan posts. I’ll make a note of that in the future. c:
So, everyone is born under a sun sign, right? Whether it be Pisces, Aries, Taurus, etc. Each sign is further divided into three sections— ten days per section. These subdivisions are known as “decans.” So, when I was using, “Pisces I,” “Pisces II,” and “Pisces III,” that was referring to the three decans. Each decan has different main traits.
Um, for example? Pisces are notably shy. However, Pisces II tend to be the most shy, and all-around loners. Another Pisces trait? Spiritual? Yes, it’s to be seen in all three decans, but Pisces I usually tends to be the most spiritual of the decans. Make sense? c:
I posted detailed posts a while back on the three decans and cusps, and clicking that link up there will show you the different posts. In the posts, you will find the different dates. c:
Oh, thank you! Actually, that’s one of the reasons I really wanted to start this blog. c: I think it’s important to publicly celebrate ourselves; especially since Pisces have a bad habit of seeing a lot of negative traits in themselves.
I was using a book, actually. It was a giant book on birthdays, and I wrote up the different birthdays for Pisces; however, it does have each birth date you could possibly want. I borrowed it from a friend of mine, but it was The Secret Language of Birthdays, by Gary Goldschneider. He’s done quite a few books, but I’m unsure if there’s any other way to get ahold of the information. Here’s a list of his books. Maybe you can find it online? Good luck finding what you’re looking for. Namaste.
Well, it really depends on what’s depressing the Pisces, I think. There’s a vast variety of things that may potentially help a Pisces lift their spirits; however, creative outlets might be one of the most important things. Whether it be a typical form of art, or something the Pisces personally finds to be artistic, I think there’s something in the idea of “creation” that a Pisces finds somewhat calming to their inner conflicts. However, it might be even MORE important that a Pisces has a helping hand. You know, have a friend they can turn to? I think the idea of simply talking about problems/feelings can really help a Pisces out.
Also, zodiacsociety posted this a little less than a week ago. c: You might find it useful?
MARCH TWENTIETH
Strengths: Logical. Sensitive. Versatile.
Weaknesses: Unrealistic. Unsure.
Tarot Card: The Judgement
Personality
March 20 is a highly symbolic day, when considered as the last day of winter and the end of the astrological year. People born on this day possess certain unusual gifts as well as special problems. For example, they are in many ways the most highly evolved creatures of the year, when the zodiac is considered as a map of the evolution of the human being. On the other hand, they may find it difficult to start certain important endeavors and to leave the past behind. It can take them a very long time to make crucial decisions, particularly those involving big changes in their lives.
The expansive qualities and sometimes unfounded optimism of March 20 people can land them in hot water. While their dreaminess lends them magnetic charm, it also makes them prone to unreality in their outlook. However, if those born on this day manage to find their true calling and life partner they will be protected from much that can go wrong.
March 20 talents are generally both numerous and diverse. Therefore those born on this day may flounder for a while, fishing around for the right path to take. They can also be overly influenced by those in higher positions and somewhat inclined toward hero worship, often at the expense of their own ego. Their romanticism, a product of a vivid imagination, can perhaps lead them astray in this respect. By overvaluing the one they worship they tend to unconsciously undervalue themselves. This can lead to a lack of self-confidence of which they themselves may be unaware.
March 20 people must also beware of falling into depressions, which no amount of admiration (either for others or from others) will help. On the other hand, solid friends and loved ones who can keep them on track are of great importance. Ultimately, working toward greater self-assertiveness is the key to March 20 people avoiding these states.
Those born on this day are often drawn to psychic phenomena. They may have great talents in this area, but should be extremely careful not to let themselves go overboard. Such excesses could lead to an abandonment of reality which would be devastating not only to themselves but also to loved ones. If they can put these talents to use in moderation, they will achieve success in life.
Sensitivity to music and art are pronounced in March 20 people who may be particularly drawn to vocal expression. Singing, for example, can make an excellent hobby or even profession for those with musical talent. Attention to the feelings of others makes those born on this day fine interpreters of their fellow human beings’ work but also good counselors to whom people come to seek advice. In this they should remain objective if possible, for their opinion carries weight and tends to impact heavily on clients, co-workers or friends.
Meditation
We create nothing, express nothing; we only discover or uncover what is already there
I think this pair has the potential to be a great couple; however, the odds are against you. Leo’s, by rule of thumb, like attention and affection— which I think a Pisces can certainly offer. However, Leo’s can become a little brash and trample over a Pisces’ feelings… so, it’ll be important to “activate” the Leo’s nurturing side. Leo’s can be very sweet, and almost maternal, if given the opportunity.
However, it’ll be important that Pisces is upfront with their emotions and affection. Leos tend to want a more-direct relationship, and if they feel Pisces is being too wishy-washy, this might drive them a bit too crazy.
Well, here’s a post I did somewhat recently on the Aquarius-Pisces cusp. c: click here! It’s got a bit of advice there, too. I know it’s not much, c: but if I ever manage to get more time on my hands, I have plans to elaborate on the different cusps/decans of Pisces.
Silly anon! This is a pisces-devoted blog!
Go check out one of these blogs, instead?
Perhaps they have some CancerxAquarius relationship posts. c:

Well, the signs here are PiscesxTaurus. And generally speaking, yes, these two signs are compatible. Read here on my post on Pisces/Taurus.
I’m unsure about the ages, though. This is a bit of an awkward age gap. Not that it’s large, or anything— no, not by any means. But you have one individual here who’s gone through puberty, into adulthood. And the other is still in high school, and probably still rather immature. I don’t mean to pass judgement on age; I mean, it’s very well possible that the Taurus is beyond their years. But that’s still a possible “bump in the road” you may have to overcome.
There’s potential here, but I think perhaps it’s an uphill battle. Because of age, the Taurus might not want to commit to it. (Teenagers usually don’t seek relationships that need effort to make them work).
MARCH NINTEENTH
Strengths: Persuasive. Tireless. Thorough.
Weaknesses: Unaware. Stubborn. Closed.
Tarot Card: The Sun
Personality
Those born on March 19 have the dogged persistence needed to achieve their ends and know how to use their charm and allure to help them. These highly directed people are both dreamers and doers. They are able to translate their imaginative ideas into reality. Though assertive, March 19 people may not be the most self-aware individuals, and indeed a strong unreality factor may be at work here.
March 19 people are outwardly directed and intent on winning others over to their viewpoints. But what those born on this day may be attempting at times is to change external reality to conform to their inner picture of it. This may sound like a dubious proposition, but through their tenacity, those born on March 19 are surprisingly successful.
March 19 people possess very pure and childlike qualities. But though they are expansive types who sometimes give the impression that they are in another world, they are in fact forceful and businesslike. Thus they are a bit paradoxical in nature, and can appear to others as being alternately dreamy and fiery.
Some March 19 people are explorers who break new ground and go where no one has dared to go before, but more often they are pragmatic individuals who proceed methodically. Whatever the nature of their undertakings, March 19 people usually move in a straight-line fashion, convinced that their principles are just—as a matter of fact they may even see themselves as reformers, putting everything right after years of neglect by others. Due to a lack of objectivity, however, they can well be headed off track or in the wrong direction.
It is indeed important that March 19 people chart their course with care, because once they are convinced they are on target they will want to follow through to the end. They are also extremely diligent and capable of operating on a personal level with little need for fanfare, reward or acclaim. They will doggedly pursue their goals, even though it may mean endless repetition of tasks. They never seem to tire of their own activities, perhaps at times even going at things too slowly. This thoroughness is one of their most basic attributes and usually guarantees a successful outcome to their ventures.
As hardnosed and hardworking as March 19 people can be, they must learn to be more realistic about who they are. Acquiring self-knowledge and an awareness of limitations is extremely important. Part of their development will inevitably include learning not to overreach. They must make an effort to keep their egoism and egotistical impulses under control. By adopting a modest attitude, they may prove to be still more successful in their efforts.
Meditation
All life is sacred
Certainly. c:
This is Aquarius and Pisces. Now, I’m of the mind that these two can either be pretty awesome, or absolutely atrocious. See, Pisces is lovey-dovey, clingy, kissy, touchy, let me love you and spend the rest of my life with you! And Aquarius is more of a quick-fling kind of person. However, these two signs have a lot of spiritual things in common, and given the right circumstances… Aquarius can really teach Pisces how to get back into reality, all while serving as a protective partner for Pisces. Pisces is empathic and loving, and because Aquarius is rather distant, sometimes Pisces can manage to fit in nicely into the Aquarian scheme of things. These two signs are quite passionate, but Pisces has to make sure not to be too clingy. And Aquarius has to make sure they don’t completely isolate themselves!
But, yes, yes, of course. These two stand a chance at love. c:
How would an age gap affect a relationship?
Here’s an article I found if you’d like to read it.
However, I’ve also heard theories that involve things… a bit of a condescending nature. Now, I don’t necessarily agree with this, so don’t think that I’m endorsing this! I’m simply conveying this information to you, as something to consider. All right? I have heard that sometimes, older individuals who date/seek relationships with younger individuals often don’t feel like they ought to date people of their own age because of insecurities. Usually, this has to do with maturity— something along the lines of, “Oh, if I go for someone younger, they won’t realize I’m no good because they’re immature.” Now, if something like insecurities is the main force behind a relationship’s age gap, I think it’d be a good idea to seek counseling. For the older individual, they aren’t giving their all— and it’s not not necessarily fair to the younger individual. In no way am I suggesting this is occurring if you are in a relationship with someone who has a large difference in age; nor do I think this happens in all relationships with couples with large age gaps. It’s just food for thought, okay? And if something like that does happen, I think that would make for a weak relationship— so it’s something to consider.
As that article I linked you to says, though: If two people are lucky enough people find each other, it usually will not matter at which point in life they do so. When it comes to love, age is just a number.
I already touched on this, right? You’ve just added on the Venus signs now? Well, considering those Venus signs, I almost wonder if that Scorpio might want to be “up and about” more than the Pisces? Like, I wonder if he’s more independent than the typical Scorpio, and that might throw a bit of a fracture between the relationship. I think there is a potential for an “on and off” sort of thing to happen here, and I’m inclined to say this type of relationship isn’t necessarily long-term. There’s certainly compatibility, but there’s also likely some bumps in the road. So long as you put effort and time into it, you two could totally make something meaningful out of this.
