Pisces Paradox

«  11/13 »

"You may think, dream, imagine, hope to be a thousand things, according to your Moon and your other planets: but the Sun is what you are, and to be your best self in terms of your Sun is to cause your energies to work along the path in which they will have maximum help from planetary vibrations."

The Sun

The Sun, the giver of life, represents our conscious mind in Astrology. It represents our will to live and our creative life force.

Just as the planets revolve around the Sun in our solar system, we derive our life purpose from the Sun in our natal charts. The Sun is our ego. It is also our “adult”– the part of us that censors our “inner child”, that reasons things out, and makes final decisions. The Sun is our basic identity, and represents self-realization.  When you are asked, “Who are you?”, and you’ve passed your basic statistics and occupation, your answers will be a description of your Sun. The Sun also represents our overall vitality. The Sun directs us, and can be considered “the boss” of our chart.

The Sun is so important in the chart, that the happiest people on this earth are those who identify (without over-identifying) with the Sun’s expression. Though one might think that the traits of their Sun would come easy to them, the truth is, the Sun shows what we are learning to be. It is very important to remember that the Sun represents reason as opposed to instinct.

With respect to the other luminary (the Moon), the Sun reflects the present or the “here and now”, while the Moon infuses the past into our lives through the feelings.

When we are “acting out” our Sun, we are purposeful, directed, proud, and creative. On the negative side, we can be haughty, overly willful, self-centered, and judgmental.

In the chart, the position of the Sun by zodiac sign represents the native’s life purpose and the style in which they leave their mark in the world. By house, the Sun’s position shows where our personalities shine. The areas of life associated with that house reveal the types of experiences which contribute to our sense of individuality and which shape our sense of pride. These areas of life are ones in which we seek to express and focus our Sun sign qualities.

Hey, Pisces! I have a question for you.

Are there any characters— in literature, anime, comics, video games, anything at all— that you feel you really relate to? I’m curious. c: You don’t have to explain why, unless you’d like to. I’d love to hear it! So, are there any characters you really feel you relate to?

Pisces

February 19/20 - March 20

Element: Water
Quality: Mutable
Ruler: Neptune
Symbol: The Fish
Mode: Feeling
Motto: I Believe

COLORS: Mauve. Purple. Aquamarine.
PLANTS:
Mosses. Ferns. Seaweeds.
ATTRACTIONS TO: Aquarius. Scorpio. Cancer.

Pisces is the twelfth and last sign of the zodiac, and can be viewed as the most highly evolved of all the signs. It is not only the ultimate water sign (following Cancer and Scorpio), but is also ruled by the watery planet, Neptune. With Jupiter as its co-ruler it shares both expansive and mutable characteristics with Sagittarius. Pisces symbolizes the merging of the human soul with the Cosmos, a necessary step before the next incarnation may begin anew in Aries. Pisces symbolize a deep belief in the highest powers of the Universe.

The two Pisces Fish swim freely in the cosmic ocean. They represent the highest lessons of fellowship, but also the capacity to see deeply into the life and nature of things. The Fish can submerge themselves in the depths and partake of hidden and ultimate mysteries. Pisces teaches us not to be afraid and to let go of our earthly form, and teaches that death is only the beginning of new life.

Personality

If Pisces is taken to represent the twelfth and last period of life, age 77-84, it symbolizes a spiritual letting go of earthly attachments and a merging with the cosmos (as mentioned prior). The rulership of Neptune lends a dreamy, spiritual and deeply emotional quality to the Pisces personality. Pisces are not known for their practicality, but can in fact be masterful in their understanding and expression of abstract ideas and systems. Thus, those born under this sign can be typed as dreamers yet when they make a gift of their visions to humanity it is indeed a fine offering. Generally speaking, Pisces are easy about sharing material possessions and enjoy friendships and close partnerships more than most. Yet they also need to be alone a good deal of the time and run the risk of becoming escapists or loners who isolate themselves from the world.

Extreme sensitivity can make it difficult for Pisces to lead an easy social life. Though often characterized as the sign of sorrows, suffering is born well by Pisces. However, they can be vulnerable to depression an occasionally beset by self-pity. Escapes involving addiction are particularly dangerous for them. The deep and complex emotional life of those born under this sign makes them highly attractive to those who long for contact with the profound in life.

Pisces are often blessed with excellent memories, perhaps due to their impressionability. In addition, they tend to be devotional, and make true believers— this applies not only in the religious sense but also in regard to other belief systems and principles. Jupiter shows its influence in the generosity of this sign. Pisces are high empathic and sensitive to the difficulties of others; they tend to respond with compassion in the face of misfortune. However, Pisces must beware that others do not impose unduly on them or take advantage of their acquiescence.

Pisces’ Typical Behavior & Personality Traits

• has a warm, sympathetic heart
• very romantic
• rarely jealous, but gets hurt all the same
• often appears vague and dreamy
• protective of emotional vulnerability
• talks slowly, and is knowledgeable on many subjects
• subtle while appearing to be helpless or incapable
organized; manages the finances
• has few prejudices
• emotionally involved
• not ambitious for status, fame, or fortune
cannot easily be fooled
• has few material needs, but needs their dreams
• does not try to dominate their partner in any way
• needs to belong to someone

I’m writing these down from a book I own. I italicized two because it seems to contradict a lot of what I’ve read elsewhere about pisces; but, I included it all the same. I mean, one of pisces biggest “flaws” is how very gullible we are! But, I suppose maybe we’re hard to fool when it comes to people and their emotions?
Regardless, I’m sure some of us pisces are bound to be organized, and aren’t easily fooled!
